Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data is collected when you visit SportTrack, who collects it, and what you can do about it. Questions go to dilsesports@gmail.com.

The short version

SportTrack has no accounts, no logins, no comments and no forms. We never ask you for your name, email address, phone number or payment details, and there is nothing on this site you can type personal information into.

We also set no cookies of our own. Everything described below is collected by two Google services we use — Google Analytics, to see which posts people read, and Google AdSense, which pays for the site. We read their reports; we do not hold a database of visitors.

Cookies

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to store, which is sent back on later visits. On this site they come from Google, not from us:

  • Analytics cookies — _ga and _ga_<property id>, set by Google Analytics. They hold a randomly generated number that distinguishes one browser from another so a returning reader is not counted twice. They contain no name or email address.
  • Advertising cookies — set by Google and its advertising partners when ads are served, including the Google advertising cookie used across sites that show Google ads. These are used to select ads, cap how often you see the same one, and detect click fraud.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. The site will work normally without them; nothing here depends on a cookie to function.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which posts are read and how people arrive. It records the pages you view, the time and duration of the visit, the page or search that referred you, and an approximate location, device type and browser.

We use it only in aggregate — to see that a post was read 400 times, not to follow an individual. We have not enabled Google Signals, advertising personalisation or any user-ID feature in our Analytics property.

You can opt out of Google Analytics on every site at once with Google’s browser opt-out add-on.

IP address and device information

Your IP address is sent to any server you request a page from — that is how the internet delivers a response, and it cannot be switched off. Here is what happens to it:

  • We do not store it. SportTrack is a set of static pages with no database. We keep no visitor log of our own.
  • Google Analytics uses it to derive an approximate location — typically city level — and then discards it. IP addresses are not stored in Analytics reports, and we cannot see yours.
  • Our hosting provider, Vercel, records standard server request logs, including IP address, for security and reliability, and deletes them on its own schedule.
  • Google advertising receives it as part of serving an ad, and uses it for approximate location, fraud prevention and legal compliance.

Device information means the kind of thing every site receives: browser and version, operating system, screen size, and language preference.

Advertising

SportTrack is funded by advertising. Ads are served by Google AdSense.

  • Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
  • Third-party vendors and ad networks other than Google may also serve ads here, and may likewise use cookies to do so.

Personalised and non-personalised ads

There are two kinds of ad you may be shown, and the difference matters:

  • Personalised ads are chosen using data about your past browsing — sites visited, previous interactions with ads, and inferred interests.
  • Non-personalised ads are chosen from the content of the page you are on and your approximate location, not your browsing history. They still use cookies, but only to cap how often an ad is shown and to detect fraud.

You control which you receive. Turn personalisation off for your Google account at My Ad Center, or opt out of participating third-party vendors at optout.aboutads.info and optout.networkadvertising.org. Opting out does not reduce the number of ads you see; it changes how they are selected.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, advertising cookies may only be used with your consent. Google presents a consent message before serving personalised ads to visitors in those regions; where consent is not given, ads are served on a non-personalised basis.

Data sharing

We do not sell personal data, and we have nothing to sell — we hold no database of visitors. Data reaches only the providers that make the site work:

  • Vercel — hosting and delivery of the pages themselves.
  • Google Analytics — traffic measurement.
  • Google AdSense — advertising.

Each of these is an independent company with its own privacy policy, and each may process data outside India. We share data with nobody else, and we will disclose information only where a law or a valid legal order requires it.

Data retention

We hold no personal data of our own, so there is nothing on our side to retain or delete. Our providers keep data on their own schedules:

  • Analytics — Google deletes event-level data automatically after the retention period set on our property, and keeps aggregate reports, which contain no individual records.
  • Server logs — kept by our host for a short operational period, then deleted.
  • Advertising — governed by Google’s own retention policy, which you can review and control in your Google account.

Your privacy rights

Which rights apply depends on where you live. In every case the practical answer is the same: we hold no personal data about you, so the most direct route is the Google controls linked above, which act on the data that actually exists.

  • India — Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. You have the right to access a summary of your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to nominate someone to act for you, and to complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
  • EEA and UK — GDPR. You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and object to processing, and to data portability, plus the right to complain to your national supervisory authority. Where we rely on consent — advertising cookies — you may withdraw it at any time.
  • California — CCPA/CPRA. You have the right to know what is collected, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided personal data, write to dilsesports@gmail.com and we will act on it.

Changes

Material changes will be reflected in the date shown at the top of this page. We do not change this policy quietly.
